besides the fact that i love fellini + i love la dolce vita (the movie) the song itself is an event that actually happened. to me. i was on my way to a party in allston, after work, a 6-pack in the seat beside me. i parked at a stop light (middle b.u.), a cab pulled up besdie me, the passenger door opened + this astonishingly beautiful girl stepped out, self-possessed, well put together + tall. totally italian circa fellini. giant blond hair, flimsy see-thru turquoise dress, expensive stylish turquoise shoes. so gorgeous it was as if the world stopped to look at her. guys on the street skid to a skateboard screech, tongues hang out, the girl being the only thing that moved. if that weren't
enough, a spaghetti strap slid off her shoulder + out hung one immaculate shining ivory pink-nipple breast. the earth stood still. not even a cricket cricked. + then, with total nonchalance, she slid her tit
back into the hammock of her dress, pulled the strap up onto her shoulder, walked right in front of my car, slowly, hips making a statement, hair shifting in the warm evening air, shoes tick-tocking +
reverberating on the street. i waited + watched. she vanished gradually into the dark only to re-appear as a street light caught her in a golden shaft of light. one held one's breath + then it was over. she was gone, the boys, the cab, the traffic, the earth returned to reality + i went to the party, blown away.
